Milliken 16 MM High-Speed Motion Picture Camera DBM 5A This auction is for one of the important items in my NASA History collection. Just one of the things this camera was used for at NASA LANGLEY,was in their Aircraft and Helicopter Crash testing program. NASA began filming the aircraft, that they had dropped, as it crashed at roughly 400 frames per second. Obviously the long lens was used for long distance work. I have seen similar cameras in pictures used in the launch movies of the space shuttle programs. This is a DB MILLIKEN COMPANY HIGH SPEED MOTION PICTURE CAMERA MODEL DBM 5A . Filming at high speed and then playing at normal speed gives the effect of a slow motion camera. This is a historical collectors item. A few years ago the camera and photo lab at NASA Langley farmed out their air craft drop testing work and put this camera on auction. I added this camera to my NASA History collection when I purchased it from a NASA auction. NASA indicated on the auction sticker, the CONDITION CODE 4. Code 4 means it was sold in good working condition. However I have not tested it, and sell it “AS IS”. The collectors value is way higher than the price I am listing it at auction. This is a piece of NASA History. I have scanned 6 DBM camera manuals to a cd and included it in the auction. The camera manuals include wiring diagrams and maintenance information.
